Q: Where do we depart from, or meet you?
A: I depart from the Mayport Boat ramp. 4870 Ocean Street, Atlantic Beach Fl.
Check my Maps/Directions page for directions from Mapquest.com
For customers coming from Amelia Island, I meet them on the north side of the St
John’s River at the Sisters Creek Boat ramp on Hecksher drive.
Q: How long are your fishing trips?
A: My standard day is 6 hours of fishing. Then come back to the dock and if you choose
I clean, skin de-bone and bag your fillets, with ice.
I also do a 2 hour "kids trip" for the little ones, 8 - 10 years of age or under,
with at least one adult present.
Q: Do we have to keep our fish?
A: Not at all. I encourage only keeping what you will eat, but you can release all of them
if you choose.
Q: Can you suggest a restaurant where they can cook our fish for lunch or
dinner?
A: Yes. I’ll be happy to recommend one. And, that really completes a fun day. When you
can have a fresh fish meal caught locally and on your own.
Q: What kind of fishing tackle do you use?
A: You'll be using some of the very best tackle, I'm a Pro-staff member for several tackle
companies. You will be fishing with tackle I use myself. Hand selected rods and reels
that fit my local fishing styles, from makers such as; G. Lommis rods, Accurate twin
drag reels, Shimano rods and reels, Abu Garcia reels, Berkley and Stren brand line.
Q: Can we bring our own rods and reels?
A: I encourage all my customers to use my rods and reels that are already rigged up for
the days fishing, with the proper terminal tackle. I have had a customer bring a
favorite spinning rod and reel from time to time or a Fly rod and reel, just in case they
had a shot at using them. But normally, I have you covered.
Q: Do we need to bring a cooler and ice?
A: I discourage all coolers on board. Since I have adequate coolers on board and fresh ice
every morning when we leave. Just bring whatever eats and drinks to the boat in a bag,
and I'll ice it all down for you. But yes, bring a cooler and leave it in your vehicle.
Q: Is alcohol allowed on the boat?
A: I discourage alcohol and absolutely no controlled substances. Save that for when your
back at the dock.
Q: What else should we bring?
A: Hats, sunglasses, camera, and correct attire for the weather that day. i.e.: warm
clothing in winter and rain jacket in summer. Shoes should be comfortable. If you are
prone to motion sickness, I would take something to prevent it prior to our departure.
Q: How do you prefer the balance of the charter be paid?
A: I take only cash balances, after you do your $100 deposit via Google Check-out.
Or a paid in full charter, via Google check-out. You'll be briefed on the phone.
Q: Is it customary to tip your Captain?
A: I clean fish for tips after a day of fishing, and it's reasonable to receive 10-15%
gratuity if there's a good amount of fish to clean. And or, if you feel I worked hard for
you it is greatly appreciated.
Q: What happens if the weather is bad on our scheduled day?
A: I make all weather calls, and am very knowledgeable about local conditions. If we can
not fish relatively comfortable, and with the utmost safety I will recommend we
reschedule to another day.
*Charters are not rescheduled based on chances of rain, or cold or hot temperatures.
Q: Should we always have a possible fall back day?
A: There are times of year in N.E. Florida when it's always a good idea to have a fall
back day, just in case. At the time of booking we'll discuss that possibility, if needed.
Q: What's the youngest that can go on a 6 plus hour charter?
A: I recommend that all children be at least 8 - 10 years old for an all day trip. I have a shorter day referred to as my "2 hour kid's trip" for the youngsters. Hopefully, for 2 children there will also be 2 adults to accompany them.
Q: Do you offer Gift Certificates?
A: Yes, I do. they are good for the calendar year of purchase. Just ask.
Q: What if our group consists of more than 4 people?
A: I can arrange and organize charters utilizing more boats. I recommend a 45-60 day
advance notice for Group charters. Up to 5 boats and 20 passengers can be arranged. |
